ImageNurses and other healthcare professionals face many special challenges while in recovery.  Some of these issues include legal issues, dealing with the state boards, loss of income, and dealing with employers.  Here you will find resources on where to go and what you need to do to begin the process of recovery.  Please read more for more information about our site and how it can help you.

As a nurse in recovery or as someone who cares about a nurse in recovery, you probably are scared and have many questions.  Recovering Nurses was established just for you.  From our home page you will find links to many helpful articles and resources.  Including:

  • Links to PEER/alternative programs for nurses
  • Articles and books on recovery
  • How to get started - where to go
  • FAQ
  • Forums for discussions with other nurses like yourself
  • Words of encouragement and daily devotions

This is not an inclusive list but just a few of the helpful links you will find.  Aslo, please visit our sister site, Nurses in Recovery, and join the NIR mail list - there is a link from our home page.  By registering with recoveingnurses.org you will have access to other features, including your own private blog/journal, where you can tell your story for others to read.  If you prefer, your journal can be kept private for only you to read.

Recovering Nurses will never ask you to donate any money to our cause.  We are here for you and want all of your resources to be put into your own recovery.  We ask only one thing of you.  Please be respectful with your comments.  We are all here to help each other during this difficult time in our lives.

I would like to make mention that recovery is a process that involves spirituality.  While all 12 step programs are centered around a universal definition of spirituality, Recovering Nurses recommends you spend some time and detirmine who, or what, is your higher power.  We encourage you to search your heart through prayer to discover the meaning of your higher power.  Please do not let this discourage you from participating in our community if you disagree with this ideology.  We are here for everyone.

So, please take time to explore our site.  We hope you find information here that will help you begin and maintain your journey in recovery.  Please use the contact us link to email us about any questions you have or problems you encounter on our site.  Remember we are a work in progress!

Please register and begin telling us your story today!  It only takes 30 seconds and it cost nothing

Good luck and God bless!
