ImageRecovery is difficult.  It will probably be the hardest thing you will ever do in your life.  But it will also be the most rewarding.  Getting started is the most important step in your recovery.  But where do you begin?  I would like to share a few words with you that someone passed along to me early in my recovery and I still use them in my everyday life.  They are as follows:

  1. Forgive and love yourself
  2. Forgive and love those who have hurt you
  3. Do the right thing at the right time
  4. Share it all with someone else.
The title of the article comes from 1 Corinthians in the Bible.  "And now these three remain:  faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is Love."

If you do not forgive and love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to?  When you invite love into your heart miracles begin to happen.  Mother Teresa always insisted that her life in Christ was centered around love.  Indeed, in her mission in Calcutta there was a sign with a prayer on it that read as follows:

THE SIMPLE PATH

The fruit of silence is prayer

The fruit of prayer is faith

The fruit of faith is love

The fruit of love is service

The fruit of service is peace

And I don't know about you, but peace is what I was looking for in every bottle, in every pill and in every syringe.  I promise if you bring Christ and love into your heart, he will work miracles in your life of recovery.  And it al begins with LOVE.
